Reflecting upon 2008 either causes us to laugh or cry. We had momentous ups and tumbling downs, wrapped in a nice package we all call life. We have watched Gavin grow into a joyous and funny little guy who is keeping us young and grounded. (Kids are great for perspective.) He enters his third year of life surpassing many of his Montessori school mates in several developmental areas (he got this from the Collins side) and has an uncanny ability to tell jokes, laugh at our jokes and be a total goof-ball (he got this from the Warren side). He has a very sensitive and highly empathetic side as well.
Of late, he packaged up a bag of toys for his Grandpa Tim, placed the bag under our tree and asked me "can Santa deliver these to him in heaven?" Well, that choked us all up and set the stage for an unforgettable holiday season. My parents (Mema and Papa) spoiled us all with gourmet food, assistance with our endless house punch list and last-minute holiday decor. We couldn't have pulled it off without them, as we spent half of December on the Turks/Caico's Island drinking dirty banana's with the Jolly's, snorkeling, scuba diving and lounging on the beach. We seriously had the best vacation on record. Thanks to Avis and Andy and all the other Jolly's. See picks under Turks/Caico's.
Ah, yes resolutions. We do try to make them and keep them, I guess we are a bit old fashioned. Eric has decided to keep up his P90X workouts to maintain his svelte body and abate his insomnia. Ness, well she has decided to do less cleaning and spend more time being a "hot wife". We did pretty well with last years....
So, we raise our glasses to all of you as you ring in the New Year, reflect upon 2008 and plan for 2009. I thank my sister Carla for helping me kick-start this blog all the way from her sailboat in Mexico! Ain't technology swell?
